Guys, be sincere: Would you wish you had been bigger? Almost certainly, the answer is yes.

"I think there isn't a guy on the planet who hasn't wished his penis were an inch or two longer," says Michael O'Leary, MD, professor of urologic surgical procedure at Harvard Medical College along with a urologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

However, following more than a century of usually doubtful and sometimes lunatic penis enlargement attempts, there is still not a lot you can do. Sure, there are lots and lots of supposed choices out there -- penis pills, lotions, brutal stretching workouts, horrific-looking devices, and penis surgical procedure. Almost none of it really works. The few approaches that may function frequently have modest benefits and serious side results. How serious? In some instances, erectile dysfunction-serious.

"Trust me, if I knew of a method to securely and successfully improve penis dimension, I'd be a billionaire," O'Leary tells WebMD. "But I don't. Nobody does."

Still, common feeling does not quit size-obsessed men from trying very sketchy treatments on the important component in their anatomy -- and jeopardizing a great deal within the process.

How Small Is really a Little penis?
Believe you're smaller than typical? You're most likely not.

The typical erect penis is generally five to six inches lengthy having a circumference of four to 5 inches. There is more variation in the size of flaccid penises.

Some men are truly smaller than that. In rare cases, genetics and hormone issues trigger a condition called micropenis -- an erect penis of under 3 inches. Sometimes Peyronie's illness or prostate cancer surgery can decrease a guy's size.

But research display that the majority of the men looking for penis enlargement are average-sized. They simply think they are below typical.

Why? Component of it is viewpoint. It is very difficult to gauge the dimensions of your own penis -- looking down, you have received a bad angle.

Psychology plays a role, too. Some average-sized guys become obsessed with the concept that they're as well small. There is even a psychiatric diagnosis: penile dysmorphic condition. It's similar to the perceptual distortion of anorexics who think they're fat regardless of how skinny they get.

According to one study, nearly all males who get penis enlargement surgery have this condition. They're also the least happy using the outcomes.
